Operations
Our operations division is responsible for the operation with our cleaning installations and ensuring that the operation can continue 24/7 within Belgium and Dutch ports. This division is responsible for operating, maintaining, and updating the cleaning installation and inspection drones to provide the best service to our clients. The operations department is divided between cleaning services and inspection services. The employees within the operations department consist out of an energetic team of technically trained people who play a crucial role within Fleet Cleaner.
Your role
As cooperative skipper you are responsible for the nautical aspect of the operation, in particular the sailing of the working vessel. For this you sail in all major Dutch and Belgian seaports. You are responsible for the planning of sailing routes, bunkers, as well as supporting the operation. Because the cleaning of ships is 24/7 work, you work one week on the ship and are then one week at home. Finally, you are also responsible for the maintenance of the working vessel and make sure the vessel is in good condition.
Activities
The activities of the Cooperative Captain will include the following:
- Sailing of the vessel;
- Maintenance of the vessel;
- Keeping track of on board supplies (paint, groceries, bunkers, etc.);
- When necessary you help with the operation, during mooring and shifting the vessel, and during attachment of the robot to the vessel that is getting cleaned.
Requirements
In order to properly perform the role of Cooperative Captain, we ask the following:
- Commercial vessels master’s certificate (Dutch: “Groot vaarbewijs A”), preferably including ADN certificate;
- Knowledge of the ports is an advantage;
- Capability to work independently, but also in a team;
- Practical technical knowledge and skills, and an eye for which maintenance is necessary;
- Good knowledge of the English language.

We would like to offer you the following terms of employment for the role of Cooperative Captain:
- A gross monthly salary including allowances between €4,500 and €6,200;
- Pension and travel allowance arrangement;
- Varied work on board the ship;
- An ambitious and informal working atmosphere in a challenging environment;
- Possibility to take a work week off on board, giving you three consecutive weeks off.
