Our engineering division is divided into two departments: Electronics & Controls Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The department of Electronics & Controls Engineering is responsible for the PLC control system and the electrical systems of our cleaning installations and inspection drones. Whereas the department of Mechanical Engineering is responsible for the Mechanical Design of the cleaning installations and inspection drones. Within the engineering division, innovative input is valued and there is the opportunity to work on many different types of technology.

Your role

Fleet Cleaner is a fast growing innovative technical organization that has developed inspection and cleaning robots for all underwater maintenance of seagoing vessels. Software plays an important role in this. For example, we use software to control our ROV (remotely operated vehicles), to predict through data analysis which ships are dirty and to set up an online dashboard for our customers to monitor their fleet (for the last two we mainly use the languages Python, PostgreSQL & React). In addition, we are working towards more automated inspection and cleaning robots using Python.

As Software Engineering Lead you will manage the Software Engineers and oversee all software packages within Fleet Cleaner. You will help to improve and set up the structure and processes within the Software Engineering team. Furthermore, you will contribute to the development of new software and you will check and improve the work of the other Software Engineers. You are the first point of contact for the Software Engineers and also guide them in their personal development.

Your work
In the role of Software Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for the following work:

  • Setting up and improving the structure and processes within the software engineering team, think of work meetings, work agreements etc.;
  • Managing Software Engineers and guiding them in their personal development. Furthermore, checking and improving the software written by them;
  • Analyzing the software within Fleet Cleaner and suggesting improvements and new features, including making estimates for the amount of work and risks;
  • Monitoring and coordinating the progress of ongoing projects;
  • Together with your team, developing, coding, testing and troubleshooting all software used in our operation and various web applications.

What do we ask?
To perform the Software Engineering Lead position well, we ask the following:

  • Minimum of three years of work experience as a Software Architect, Senior Software Engineer or similar;
  • WO education towards Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or similar;
  • Extensive experience working within the cloud environment Microsoft Azure;
  • Experience with one or more of the following programming languages/databases: Python, React, PostgreSQL and/or Snowflake;
  • You are able to manage a team of Software Engineers;
  • You take initiative and can work in a structured way and keep an overview.
